« Two centuries of history» recounts the various aspects of the history of the
Banque de France, from its creation on 18 January 1800 to the birth of the euro on 1 January 1999. It is articulated around three main topics : banknotes and coins, monitory policy, geographical establishment.
Written by Tristan Gaston-Breton, a historian specialised in the history of corporations, this book contains numerous illustrations drawn from the Banque's archives, and two series of photographs taken on the occasion of the Banque's bicentennial by two famous architectural photographers, Jean-Baptiste Leroux and Michel Denancé.
The preface is written by the Governor of the Banque de France.
